Nut-Free Caesar Dressing

This simple Nut-Free Caesar Dressing recipe is a veganized version of everybody’s favorite salad topper.

Nut-Free Caesar Dressing

I’m a sucker for a good Caesar salad. But for a long time it was difficult to find a vegan version since the traditional dressing is anchovy-based. In recent years, though, I’ve started to see recipes showing up online. This is awesome except that many of them were built around cashews. So for those of us who are allergic to nuts, the Caesar salad was still no bueno. That’s why I put together this Nut-Free Caesar Dressing that everyone can enjoy, even you have an allergy.

This dressing couldn’t be simpler to make. Its base is Follow Your Heart’s delicious Vegenaise—I like the Grapeseed Oil version—which goes right into a blender or food processor, followed by the handful of other ingredients. Then you just pulse everything for a few seconds until the creamy, smooth final product appears. All in all this recipe shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes to make. And it goes well with any kind of Caesar salad you want to create (may I recommend this Kale-based one from the Nut-Free Vegan archives?).

We’ve come a long way since those days when all the Caesar dressings were cashew based. Daiya Foods even has a nut-free bottled version available now. But I’ve found that it isn’t always easy to track down at the grocery store. This homemade recipe is always there when you need it though. So the next time you’re ready to whip up a tasty salad, keep this page in mind.

Hi there! 👋 It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted. Turns out training for a marathon takes just about all of your effort. Who knew? But I’m back now with what I hope will be the first of consistent weekly recipes (at least until the next marathon 😂).

This one is for Baked Tofu and Baby Bok Choy. It’s SUPER simple and takes very little effort. Plus it’s totally versatile too; you can serve it with rice, with noodles, or even in a soup—whatever you’re feeling on the day.

I used @nasoya’s extra firm tofu here because it’s non-GMO Project verified, USDA organic, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and preservative-free. All the things I look for when buying products these days.

I’m so happy to be back sharing recipes and can’t wait to pit a few more out there in the upcoming weeks!

Yes it’s 60 degrees in New Jersey in December 😬. But that’s still comfort food weather to me, and nothing fits the bill better than this Beefless Beef Stew with @gardein Beefless Tips—a long-time reader favorite on the NFV website. It’s hearty and totally delicious. Grab the recipe link in my profile and enjoy!
We have a wonderful ramen restaurant here in our t We have a wonderful ramen restaurant here in our town of Montclair. They offer a vegan version they is out of this world. But whenever we order from them Laura and I are equally, of not more, excited about the edamame they serve: it’s tossed in chili oil and charred. So amazing. Of course I had to take a shot at recreating it for the site and this Chili-Charred Edamame recipe was born. It’s great as either an appetizer or a snack!
